IPV led Pre-seed funding raised by space-tech startup BAAS Technologies

In a pre-seed funding round headed by Inflection Point Ventures, which also included SINE IIT Bombay and a number of private angel investors, space-tech firm BAAS Technologies raised Rs 5 crore.

According to a press statement from BAAS Technologies, the profits will be used for research and development on liquid and solid propulsion systems, the construction of a static test facility and production infrastructure, the acquisition of equipment and raw materials, and the growth of the engineering and operations staff.

Tanmay Kanmahale, Prashant Patil, Atharva Pingale, Swayam Sonar, and Shriniwas Hase co-founded BAAS Technologies in 2024 to create reusable sub-orbital and orbital launch vehicles. The company’s areas of expertise include the production of launch vehicles, domestic rocket propulsion systems, and reasonably priced launch solutions for government, commercial, and research clients.

According to the Pune-based business, it creates and designs its own liquid and solid rocket propulsion systems. As BAAS advances to the next phase of expansion, its planned 100 kN Rocket Propulsion Testing Facility will facilitate engine validation, static fire testing, and commercialization.

India’s domestic satellite launch services market is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.2%, from $399 million in 2025 to $1.58 billion by 2033.

According to the startup, it has previously finished funded trial programs in India and is currently growing commercially in Australia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
