Gramodyam launched by NABARD and NSDC to support rural entrepreneurship

Gramodyam is an entrepreneurship development program that was introduced by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to assist rural businesses in India.

NABARD Chairman Dr. Shaji K V introduced the program on the organization’s 45th Foundation Day. In cooperation with the Institute for Industrial Development (IID), NSDC, a division of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, will carry it out.

Through entrepreneurship training, mentoring, company planning, finance facilitation, and market connections, Gramodyam seeks to find, develop, and assist potential entrepreneurs in rural communities. The program will use a hybrid approach, reaching out to states and union territories both online and in person.

Before obtaining assistance to launch their enterprises, participants will go through evaluations, counseling, skill development, and mentoring. Over the next three years, the program intends to assist over 4,000 rural entrepreneurs during the experimental phase.

By assisting participants in creating project reports, submitting loan applications, and establishing connections with Regional Rural Banks and other financial organizations, the program will also make credit more accessible. Additionally, it will help business owners access pertinent government programs and incentives.

The program would track participants from enrollment to enterprise creation using NSDC’s digital platform, tracking parameters like business success, UDYAM and GST registrations, training completion, and enterprise development, according to NABARD and NSDC.
