AI research startup Gibran raises $2.6 M Seed funding from Together Fund

Gibran, an AI research startup co-founded by Manav Garg (Eka Software) and Girish Mathrubootham (Freshworks), has raised $2.6 million in seed funding from Together Fund.

With an initial focus on the drug discovery industry, where large datasets are frequently unavailable due to limited patient populations, the proceeds will be used to develop foundational AI models trained on small datasets.

Gibran was founded by Govind Balakrishnan and Srikant Chakravarti with the goal of creating artificial intelligence (AI) that can recombine known patterns into new ideas by combining large language models (LLMs) with nature-inspired systems.

From scientific research and drug development to creative industries like filmmaking and design, the method has potential applications.

Large language models (LLMs) and nature-inspired systems are combined in its technology to create AI agents that can produce new insights in fields like drug discovery, scientific hypothesis generation, and the creative industries.

Gibran develops proprietary AI tools and offers them to clients in industries like education, media, and life sciences using a research-and-platform licensing model.
