Airwallex, a Melbourne-based fintech platform secured MSB license in Malaysia

Airwallex, a Melbourne-based fintech platform, has received money services business (MSB) license from Bank Negara Malaysia. With the new license, the company will be able to provide payment solutions to Malaysian businesses of all sizes. The move is part of Airwallex’s Southeast Asia expansion strategy.

Airwallex, which was founded in 2015, just announced a $100 million Series D capital round, bringing its total worth to $2.6 billion. Today, the firm employs over 900 people in 12 different locations across the world. Airwallex is now licensed and operating in Australia, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the European Union, and the United States.
