Nine startups have been chosen to present their cutting-edge web3, blockchain, fintech, and decentralized finance (DeFi) businesses live on stage to investors and industry leaders in Accra, Ghana on October 3–4.

The Africa Money and DeFi Summit West Africa, put on by the people behind the Africa Tech Summit Series, is dedicated to promoting tech investments and fostering collaborations. In order to discuss the most recent trends, difficulties, and opportunities in the African fintech and web3 landscapes, it brings together industry experts, investors, regulators, and innovators.

The West Africa edition attracted applications from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Namibia, and Ivory Coast with a focus on establishing connections and bridging the gap between African ventures, corporations, and international investors.

Four of the chosen startups are from Ghana: Hurupay, a stablecoin payment platform; VerifiBuy, an e-commerce platform focused on bridging the trust gap between online buyers and sellers; BluPay, a digital payment solution platform that enables businesses and merchants to instantly receive MTN Mobile Money and card payments; and PayBox, a cross-border payment and fund transfer innovator across more than 23 African countries for SME.

Kenya is represented by Safi Protocol, a web3 startup that uses DeFi to increase climate resilience, and Save App, which has launched a micro-savings platform that allows users to save their spare change for later use.

Additionally, Nigeria is represented by Coinazer, a company that provides cutting-edge blockchain solutions to businesses and individuals, and One Chain Africa, an organization that seeks to develop a more open and accessible blockchain ecosystem on the continent.
