Bengaluru boys develop apps addressing challenges faced by farmers

Two school going boys from DPS, Bengaluru, have harnessed the power of technology to develop mobile applications, which are aimed at providing solutions faced by farmers and combating hunger in the country.

Commenting on the launch, Shayan Ahmed said, “There is a waste of food, and on the other hand, there is death due to starvation. I wanted a simple, user-friendly solution. By installing the app and entering basic information, users can arrange to collect surplus food from their households.”

He further added, “I feel really good that my work was appreciated and that I could help the world in some way.”

Ahmed was out with his family once and observed street kids picking up waste food to eat and that was when he decided that he wanted to do something for them.

J.P. Pandey, Director of the Union Education Ministry’s Department of Education and Literacy, appreciated the young boys and went further in connecting Intel and IBM to these students.

He said, “Their work is awe-inspiring. The government is committed to nurturing and encouraging such groundbreaking innovations.”

This innovation has sparked widespread admiration. The application has offered a glimmer of hope for the agricultural sector. Swaminathan Vivekanand has launched a mobile app called ‘Livest: Empowering Farmers.’ This app will cater to farmers by providing them agriculture-based solutions including marketing and export as well.

P Renuka, teacher at DPS Bengaluru North, said, “From school students to education ministry officials, to G20 delegates, everyone was impressed by the apps of the two young innovators”.

P Renuka accompanied the students at the fourth Education Working Group Meeting, Pune. The exhibition was held to launch their mobile applications, which were exhibited to students, officials of G20 leaders, and parents as well. The exhibition started on 17th June and continued till 22nd June.

As young students continue their journey by inspiring others to take risks too, and to go beyond boundaries with the help of technology, their work stands as a successful example of how the younger generation can make a significant difference in the world.
