Bonsaro acquired by Zappfresh to increase footprint in Mumbai
Zappfresh, an online retailer of fresh fish and meat, has purchased Bonsaro, a Mumbai-based company that specializes in the online delivery of seafood, goats, and poultry.
This marks the company’s second acquisition, based in Gurugram. It had bought Dr. Meat, which was owned by Sukos Foods, in July 2023.
By acquiring Bonsaro, Zappfresh expanded its reach in the western area by assuming full control of the company’s operations and business, including all assets. It will improve its operational capabilities and brand recognition in the western area.
Bonsaro, which was founded by Sachin Shetty and Vinay D’silva, specializes in delivering seafood, red meat, and other poultry items in a variety of cuts and forms, making it easier for customers to meet their non-vegetarian dietary needs.
Zappfresh intends to enhance Bonsaro’s current operations and expand its product offerings, with a focus on improving customer experience, over the course of the next six months. The company also hopes to break into new markets in the area in the coming year, such as Navi Mumbai, Pune, and other satellite towns.
Although Zappfresh has not yet released its financial results for FY24, the company’s operating revenue for the fiscal year that concluded in March 2023 was unchanged at Rs 56 crore. The company reported an 11-crore profit for the same time frame.
Zappfresh is anticipated to go public during the final quarter of the current fiscal year (FY25), according to media. In May of this year, it also became a public company.
