Cairo Angels rebrands as Acasia Group to represent new business model

Cairo Angels, an angel investment firm located in Egypt, has changed its name to the acasia group to more accurately represent its new business model, which also includes pan-African and later-stage investments.

Since its founding, Cairo Angels has been one of the most active early-stage investors in startups and high-growth businesses in the Middle East and Africa, with dozens of investee companies across various sectors. At the time of its launch, Cairo Angels were the first formal network of angel investors in Egypt.

With its Cairo Angels Syndicate Fund, which makes later-stage investments in several African markets, it started a new approach, and it has now changed its name to reflect this. Cairo Angels is currently part of the acasia group, a prominent impact investment, and platform that strives to fund and help the next wave of Middle Eastern and African technology entrepreneurs.

Acasia enterprises, Acasia Impact, and Acasia Angels are the current members of the Acasia group, which consists of three independent yet complementary businesses. Acasia Impact creates and develops programmes and events for corporations, governments, and foundations to empower creators and entrepreneurs. Acasia Ventures is a venture capital business that invests in early-stage start-ups throughout the Middle East and Africa.

Being an angel investment platform supported by a worldwide network of angel investors that invest in and promote early-stage start-ups throughout the Middle East and Africa, acasia angels is more similar to the previous Cairo Angels.

“Today is a very exciting day for all of us here at acasia and marks a new chapter in our history. We have been investing and supporting founders and startups for 11 years, but the reason for launching our new strategy is that we are confident the next 11 years will be even more exciting and impactful,” said Aly El Shalakany, managing partner of acasia ventures.
