Canva backers provide $3.5 M to an Australian identity app Blinq
Blinq, an Australian personal identification business, has received initial investment from Blackbird and Square Peg Capital worth A$5 million (about US $3.5 million). Since co-investing in digital platform Canva in 2014, this is the first early stage investment for both investors.
Rather than using business cards, Blinq allows users to communicate their live personal information with everyone via QR codes, near-field communications, short links, email signatures, and video call backdrops. It maintains information current, so users don’t have to notify their connections when their phone numbers or email addresses change.
The company has integrated its services with CRM systems like Salesforce, HubSpot, and Azure Active Directory.
Jarrod Webb, a former Uber Eats software developer, started Blinq as a side project in 2017. In January 2021, he quit Uber Eats to focus solely on the new venture.
The cash will be used to increase the company’s product staff.
