Class 10th students invent eco-friendly cooling device to beat the heat

In a remarkable display, a group of Class 10 students studying in the Shiv Nadar School, Gurugram, have developed an innovative eco-friendly cooling device that promises relief from heat. The students’ innovative device highlights the immense potential for innovation and sustainability within the startup ecosystem.

Commenting on this, the students said, “Zephyrus is the ancient Greek god of wind, and the name resonates with our device that supports both modes of air conditioning — cooling and heating.”

The students further added, “Our first round, where we were to identify a problem, was in peak summer while we were brainstorming ideas to work on. The weather was so hot that even with centralized air conditioning, one would not feel comfortable during the transition to and from open spaces. This made us wonder how difficult it would be for those who can barely afford a cooling device, let alone such a high-end cooling system.”

The students belonging in class 10th were given an assignment where they had to work within teams in order to address issues that concern the world and to come up with solutions. After which a group of students, comprising V Sahil Seshadri, Lakshya Goswami, Uday Singh, Sourish Grover, and Armaan Sharma came up with this innovation.

Pressing the need for cost-effective and energy-efficient cooling solutions, particularly in regions where there are extreme heatwaves, this device which is called Zephyrus, offers cooling and heating, and is also an ecofriendly device. The aim is to make this device accessible to people in rural areas.

This innovation by these class 10th students serves as a testament, as they continue to refine their eco-friendly cooling device and expand their startup, their journey stands as an inspiration to young minds around the world, towards a sustainable future.

“We should be mindful of how the little things we do in our day-to-day lives impact the world around us and work towards adopting a sustainable lifestyle. Every action counts, no matter how insignificant it may seem,” the students said.
