Colgate-Palmolive launched the first-ever recyclable toothpaste tubes in India
Colgate-Palmolive, India’s market leader in oral care, has been working tirelessly to include customers in moving towards a more sustainable and healthy future.
In support of these initiatives, Colgate-Palmolive has introduced India’s first-of-its-kind recyclable toothpaste tubes, which will be sold nationwide beginning this month, in August 2021.
Colgate has begun manufacturing recyclable tubes for its Colgate Vedshakti toothpaste and Colgate Active Salt range in collaboration with EPL Limited (Formerly known as Essel Propack Limited).
Colgate Vedshakti, a premium Ayurvedic toothpaste popular in India’s north and west, provides the benefits of a unique mix of strong Ayurvedic constituents. Colgate Active Salt, on the other hand, mixes salt with calcium and minerals to strengthen teeth and keep gums healthy. These toothpaste tubes with recyclable packaging will be labelled with the recognisable Recyclable emblem to assist buyers to distinguish between the two types of packaging.
The new tube is soft, squeezable, and recyclable without sacrificing important product qualities like flavour, which customers have long valued. In India, Colgate’s recyclable tubes are the first step toward achieving 100 percent recyclability throughout its dental care range.
The company has been a trailblazer in introducing world-class sustainable technologies to the market that not only enhance dental hygiene but also minimise environmental impact. For more than a decade, Colgate-Palmolive India has been producing recyclable cartons and boxes throughout its portfolio and is now expanding into recyclable packaging. This new endeavour is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to long-term viability.
Colgate-Palmolive was the first company in the world to produce a recyclable toothpaste tube, and it is now sharing its technology with the rest of the industry to help assist the transition to a more environmentally friendly and necessary circular economy.
Colgate Palmolive India has been working to minimise its carbon footprint as part of its Corporate Sustainable Ambitions for 2025, which include water conservation, energy conservation, waste management, no deforestation, and energy and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Colgate-Palmolive aims to provide a recyclable alternative to the billions of toothpaste tubes that wind up in landfills every year by introducing recyclable tubes this year.
The economy may recycle these tubes into a variety of different packaging materials and bottles, eliminating the requirement for virgin plastic to be introduced to the environment.
