Danantara Indonesia signs green investment agreement with Japan’s JBIC

Danantara Indonesia, a sovereign wealth fund in Indonesia, and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) have signed a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU), opening up funding options to hasten Indonesia’s shift to a green, digitally connected economy.
In a statement on Friday, Danantara Indonesia stated that as part of the Memorandum of Understanding, the two sides will determine and jointly develop priority projects in the areas of decarbonization and the circular economy, such as power transmission, renewable energy, water and wastewater management, sustainable digital infrastructure like green data centers, and healthcare.
A variety of financial instruments, such as debt, equity, guarantees, and other customized solutions, are also made available by the agreement to aid in the growth of major, strategic projects throughout Indonesia.

“At Danantara Indonesia, we are committed to mobilizing strategic capital that supports national priorities while meeting global standards for sustainability, impact, and governance,” said Rosan Roeslani, Chief Executive Officer of Danantara Indonesia.
In terms of Danantara Indonesia’s foreign partnership strategy, the MoU represents yet another turning point.
According to Danantara Indonesia, the fund continues to propel Indonesia’s long-term development agenda through creative, sustainable investment, having already facilitated a number of flagship projects in the first half of 2025.
The Indonesian government owns Danantara Indonesia, formally known as Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara), a legal entity in Indonesia.
The organization is required to manage state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and make strategic investments.
The company’s mission is to turn national assets into long-term economic powerhouses by adhering to the values of strong governance, inclusive impact, and international collaboration.
