Fashion Meet Expo 2022

Apparel house in sector 44 Gurgaon is a well-known place where several exhibitions have been conducted for many years. An exhibition hosted by Sowtex this year, in collaboration with AEPC-BAA-NAEC-where several start-ups showcased their products. The exhibition was held for two days- 21st April and 22nd April 2022. Sowtex is an online Business to business (B2B) marketplace connecting enterprise’s textile industry with buyers across the world. The fashion expo was all set to welcome 500 fashion buyers, industrialists, and manufacturers following delegations from six countries.

 

 

An exhibition/expo is a great way for networking and generate more business. Meeting people and connecting with a larger market to grow in the industry. Fashion Expo aims to increase export trade. The USP of these start-ups is- making sustainable material for both domestic and international trade also aiming to achieve the Government of India’s target of $100 billion fashion export industry by the year 2030. The main idea behind this Expo was to bring several industries together example- industrials, buyers, sellers, suppliers etc for collaborations, making trade easier and taking the industry to its utmost potential. This expo also gave an opportunity to several start-ups to showcase their products in front of a larger potential market.

The two days Expo was inaugurated by the Chief Guest-Minister of state for textiles & railways Smt Darshana Jardosh.

 

 

 

Chief Guest Smt Darshana Jardosh applauded the organizers for making the networking among the textile industry strong. The effort to bring so many textile industries together in one place is a massive success. It all started when Prime Minister Modi held a virtual meeting with several ministers & stakeholders, asking them to work on export trading also announced India’s collaboration with Canada, Australia and Korea for textile exports.

The first day of the expo witnessed 500 plus people which included fashion buyers, exporters, manufacturers, and retailers along with the Australian, Canadian & Korean Delegation. The first day of the exhibition turned out to be grand with a lot of networking, panel discussions, talks on innovation & technology and several sessions focusing on business growth were organized. Heads/founders of start-ups shared their insights as well.

Mr Sonil Jain, Co-founder and CEO of Sowtex expressed contentment with the response they got on day 1. The presence of several industry experts, fashion designers, manufacturers etc. made it even more valuable, further stating that he would be looking forward now to day 2 with several other panel discussions, a fashion show and other interactions with different industrialists.

The second day’s opening was done by Ms Tasneem Merchant, Founder of Label Tasneem Merchant, followed by a fashion show by Ms Pallavi Singh’s showcasing her collection-PRET, Founder of ARCVSH.

 

 

 

Special sustainable collection was showcased by Ms Tara Bhuyan- Creative director couture, Canada and the Grand Finale by Ms Shruti Sancheti, Founder of Pinnacle by Shruti Sancheti

On the 2nd day, discussions on digital products, and sustainable products followed in the fashion show conducted by the NIFT foundation of design innovation. Furthermore, there were 5 start-ups showcasing clothing lines- organic and sustainable. 4 start-ups of international celebrity designer clothes (sustainable). There were several exhibitions of different kinds.
