FinMeUp, SA financial education startup raised seed funding
FinMeUp, a South African business, has acquired an unknown amount of initial money to help it expand its financial education platform with a number of additional features.
FinMeUp, a gamified software built by Higgo van Biljon, was launched last year with the goal of taking users, whether entrepreneurs or investors, on a journey from education to implementation.
In less than a year, the business has amassed 7,000 active users on its pilot platform and acquired an undisclosed sum from ZAQ Ventures as part of its seed round. The money will be used to improve the present product, add new features and partnerships, and launch FinMeUp Wealth, a new platform.
“New features were put on hold while gaining insights from the co-creating community, which has grown to 18,000 members and reached 50,000 unique users per month, to understand where the biggest gaps in their financial journeys are,” van Biljon told Disrupt Africa.
“FinMeUp’s incentive-based financial learning to execution platform allows users to experience a full-time trusted financial advisor, but also helps you execute on your decisions.”
The startup’s goals for the next several years include introducing a new app in early 2022, establishing FinMeUp Wealth, an investing, insurance, and credit platform, and launching FinMeUp Academy, another new service.
