Four woman-owned businesses to receive funds from Grindstone, MIC
The GrindstoneX accelerator program has partnered with South Africa’s Mineworkers Investment Company (MIC), a broad-based investment holding company that is owned entirely by Black people, to provide funding to specific projects.
For the benefit of mine, energy, and construction workers as well as their dependents, the Mineworkers Investment Trust (MIT) founded the MIC in 1995 with the goal of building a sustainable asset base.
In contrast, Knife Capital and Thinkroom Limited are co-owners of Grindstone, which was established in 2013. It is well known for helping innovative, fast-growing companies grow. GrindstoneX is an all-female program that it offers to help women-led startups become more marketable, scalable, and exit-ready.
The top four women-owned startups in the third GrindstoneX program will receive pre-Series A funding from MIC at its conclusion. This place is accepting applications.
“We are thrilled with the progress we’ve made and the impact we’ve had on the entrepreneurial landscape to date. The partnership with MIC enables us to continue drive impact and momentum,” said Grindstone’s Catherine Young. “Our focus remains on empowering startups, particularly female-led businesses, to achieve remarkable growth and sustainability.”
