GuruLab secured $1 M to bring qualified tutors and learning analytics together

GuruLab, a Malaysian platform that connects skilled teachers with learning analytics, has raised US $1 million (RM4.3 million) in a seed round led by Singapore-based Wright Partners.

The cash will be used to improve GuruLab’s unique analytics platform and extend its products inside the country’s education ecosystem. The long-term objective is to diversify into new topics and markets.

GuruLab was formed in 2021 by Eer Kai Song, a Cambridge University graduate, and Vicky Tan, an Oxford University graduate. GuruLab is presently offering live-streamed tutoring programmes in English. This allows students all around Malaysia to have access to some of the best teachers in the country from the comfort of their own homes.

“We believe GuruLab’s feedback algorithm and data-driven methodology can address the shortcomings of the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach used by schools and tuition centres,” said Tan.

According to a survey published by global consulting firm Acumen Research and Consulting, the worldwide e-learning industry is expected to reach a market value of over US $660.8 billion by 2027, with the Asia Pacific showing the fastest development.
