Indonesia-based Kasual secured funding to introduce 3D body measurement
Kasual, an Indonesian direct-to-consumer (D2C) daywear business that specializes in men’s pants, has acquired an unknown amount of early capital from investors such as East Ventures.
The money will be used to enhance the team, advance the company’s technology and production capabilities for a better customer experience, and extend operations to Solo, Central Java.
“With this fund, we are going to release more product categories and marketing initiatives, and leverage new technology such as AR size measurement to create Indonesia’s first 3D body measurement,” said co-founder and CEO Alam Akbar.
Kasual will debut the 3D body measuring during Custom Week 2021, which will take place in Jakarta from December 17 to 19. Visitors may get an accurate, quick custom-fit experience for consumer menswear via an electronic body scanner.
Kasual was formed in 2017 by Akbar, a former member of the Xendit business development team, after noticing various issues in the Indonesian fashion industry. In particular, when it came to size, the industry was less flexible and adaptable to the customer’s tastes.
Going to tailor shops became inconvenient, hazardous, and expensive as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. Furthermore, quick fashion businesses are confined to a few designs and are only available in a few locations.
“We also realised that the e-commerce trend has been mushrooming rapidly and has been helping customers shop comfortably at home, thus making the demand for faster and more reliable commerce for day-to-day needs, specifically for pants. Yet, local brands’ approach still overlooks technology, which can be a vital aspect of fashion production. That means customers still do not have a reliable platform to get personalised fashion products instantly,” said Alam, CEO, and co-founder of Kasual.
Customers may purchase bespoke men’s pants with Kasual’s in-app manufacturing solutions: create your own product (BYOP). Customers may choose from a variety of fits, cutting styles, and personalised sizing.
Customers may also use the site for ‘virtual fittings,’ in which they can consult with the Kasual expert team through video chat on size measurement, tailored fitting, and product recommendations.
Kasual has its own garment production facility and can have things delivered to consumers in less than five days.
Kasual currently has over 80,000 consumers and sends out over 3,000 individualised items every month.
“We aim to scale and process their daily orders in 10x growth and process more than 5,000 items per day in the near future,” added Akbar.
