Initiative launched by Microsoft to help SMBs develop digital skill

Microsoft India announced a skilling programme on Thursday, bringing together all of its relevant skill-building tools in order to assist small and medium companies (SMBs) remain ahead of the curve with the proper digital capabilities. This campaign, which is tailored exclusively for India’s SMBs, continues on a worldwide skills initiative that helped almost three million individuals in India get digital skills during the epidemic. Small and medium companies are the backbone of India’s economy, accounting for 30% of the country’s GDP and employing over 114 million people. SMBs need digital tools to adapt to market changes, simplify their organisations, defend themselves from risks, and prepare for long-term company sustainability.

However, one of the most significant obstacles for SMBs in reacting to the epidemic has been a lack of personnel skills. With rising consumer expectations for digital literacy — and an increase in linked digital experiences — SMBs must constantly discover new methods to leverage technology in order to improve customer engagement, efficiency, and agility. As businesses grow more reliant on technology, digital skills are becoming increasingly important in assisting small firms in evaluating and using the correct digital tools in the right way. SMBs may improve their knowledge capital, including organisational procedures and human talent, by developing digital skills, giving them a competitive advantage in a digitally empowered economy.

Harish Vellat, Country Head – Small, Medium & Corporate Business, Microsoft India, said, “SMBs have been at the forefront of our country’s economic rebuilding following the pandemic and are facing immense pressure to keep up with the dramatic shift in how we work and live. It is critical that they are equipped with the skills that can help them develop long-term strategies for their business and reimagine new paths for their success. By providing these skill-building resources, we are fulfilling our commitment to creating an inclusive economy and helping SMBs transform and thrive.”
