Iraq’s EQIQ led $500K Pre-seed funding raised by Corrsy
The innovative EdTech company Corrsy, based in Finland, is pleased to report that it has closed its pre-seed funding round with a successful $500,000. This important turning point ushers in an exciting journey to use cutting-edge learning experiences to transform education in the MENA region.
Leading the investment round was Mohamed Al-Hakim’s regional venture capital firm, EQIQ, which focuses on emerging markets. Other notable investors include Yousef Durubi’s Durubi Management Holding Company, Adel Qahwaji, an angel investor from Jordan, Pekka Hermonen, an EdTech accelerator based in the UK, and Finnish angel investor Risto Vahanen.
Mustafa Salam founded Corrsy in 2019 with the goal of addressing the problems with education in Iraq and the Middle East as a whole. Mustafa’s personal experiences during the Iraqi war, where he endured severe hardships like the death of his father and displacement, served as the inspiration for Corrsy. His goal is to use technology in a way that will improve society and education.
Corrsy has grown and made an impact that is truly remarkable since its founding. The company released its first product in 2022, and students in Iraq have downloaded the Corrsy app over 500,000 times. As the pioneer in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to incorporate gamification, storytelling, and micro-learning into its mobile game app, Corrsy offers students an immersive and productive educational experience.
“We are thrilled to have the support of esteemed investors from across the globe – including Finland, Iraq, the MENA region, the UK, and other international backers – who share our vision of transforming education in the MENA region,” said Mustafa Salam, Founder and CEO of Corrsy. “This funding will enable us to be on the way to capturing the largest market share in Iraq and scaling our services to other markets. We aim to provide everyone with a mobile device and internet connection with high-quality education at a very cost-effective price, so they can pass national exams, learn for life, and enjoy the learning process.”
We have worked closely with our users to develop our product over the past two years. We are approaching the problem of private tutoring from a novel and intriguing perspective, making students the focal point of everything we do. Many improvements in our product will enable students to learn and play at the same time, reducing the anxiety associated with national exams and inspiring them to learn.
Everyone wants to be a part of this significant journey, and the diverse mix of investors in this round is a strong indicator of the market’s potential. Corrsy’s team is more optimistic than ever that we can transform education in the MENA region with such strong support.
With the help of this new funding, Corrsy is well-positioned to reach a wider audience and offer its cutting-edge educational programs to more students in the MENA area, helping to ensure that education leads to a better future.
