Kenya’s VunaPay won Latitude59 pitch competition in Africa
After winning the African leg of the Latitude59 pitch competition, VunaPay, a Kenyan startup that is revolutionizing instant payments for farmers, will travel to Tallinn, Estonia for the main event.
In October, media outlets announced that Latitude59 was looking for early-stage companies from all over Africa to compete for a spot in the upcoming pitch competition, which will be held at the event the following year. The Latitude59 pitch competition has had a EUR1 million (US$1.1 million) prize pool for the past two years.
After receiving 382 applications from 37 countries, 10 startups were chosen to compete in the African final. The jury was impressed by VunaPay’s scalable potential and its impactful solution for farmers, which led to its victory.
Twiva won the Infobip “Walk the talk” award and was given US $20,000 in platform credits.
