Logistics startup Cathedis acquired by Moroccan super-app ORA Technologies

For an undisclosed amount, Moroccan super-app startup Ora Technologies purchased Cathedis, a last-mile delivery platform based in Casablanca, in an attempt to develop a fintech and e-commerce platform that is integrated.
The ORA app, which was created in 2023 by Omar Alami, has several features, such as social networking, on-demand services, chat functionality, P2P transactions, and an e-commerce platform.
In the past ten months, ORA’s food delivery app Kooul has recorded over 15,000 active users, and in just five months, ORA Cash, its all-purpose mobile wallet, has amassed over 50,000 accounts. Additionally, riders have begun using it to digitize Morocco’s enormous cash-on-delivery industry.
In order to strengthen its digital cash collection infrastructure and expand its last-mile operations, the startup closed a US$7.5 million Series A round in July after closing a US$1.9 million pre-Series A round in March.
Only a few months after raising a Series A funding round, Cathedis was acquired by Ora, giving Ora direct control over a vital link in the logistics chain. Ora hopes to establish a smooth end-to-end experience for its Kooul e-commerce platform by bringing logistics in-house, from online payment to actual delivery.
