Microsoft, HDFC partner with Karnataka govt to launch booster kits

The 25th Edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit which went on for 3 days was hosted by the Karnataka Government ending on a 5-point declaration. The Karnataka government will be building the startup park near Kempegowda International Airport with research & development labs coming up in 50 select colleges. Aiming towards achieving synergy between institutions and IT-BT companies to connect efficiently with the industry. The participation in the Tech Summit was extensive both virtually and physically. About 4.52 lakh people attended the Summit physically and 4.00 crore people attended the Summit virtually.

On 18th Nov, at the end of the Summit, Karnataka Government announced the launch of Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS) which comes under the Department of Electronics. They launched booster kits in partnership with Google, Microsoft, Paytm, HDFC, Razorpay in order to give a range of free services aiming to boost the startup ecosystem.

The Summit included a high-level ministerial delegation from Austria, Finland and UAE. Minister for IT-BT & Science and technology C.N. Aswath Narayan said “Many have expressed their interest to invest in the tech sector in Karnataka.”

In a press release, the Karnataka startup cells ecosystem is giving support to the firms that are registered with the startup cell focusing on supporting entrepreneurs and helping to create an ecosystem. The press release further read that HDFC under the ‘Smart Up’ programme will be offering banking services which are convenient along with FinTech services to give help to startups so they can start their business with ease. The programme will also help them enhance their market presence so that the demand is generated.

Other than HDFC, Paytm will also be offering convenient banking and FinTech services in order to help startups begin their businesses as well as credits for website hosting. Startups will also be given access to platforms and programmes along with office spaces, labs, mentors, knowledge sessions, bootcamps and webinars. Startups that are in their early stages will be provided with all the support they would need. Cloud credits under Cloud Services support are provided to businesses for website hosting and business support.

KITS has partnered with ‘StrongHer Ventures’, aiming to promote startups led by women to provide an inclusive ecosystem for women.
