Non-drinking water filtration brand WaterScience secures Rs 1.4 Cr funding from Velocity

Velocity, a growth capital platform supported by Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures, has invested Rs 1.4 crore in the non-drinking water filtration company WaterScience.
According to a press release from WaterScience, the new funding will be utilized to launch new product categories, improve brand marketing campaigns, and quicken its growth trajectory.
WaterScience, which was co-founded in 2014 by Sudeep Nadukkandy, Pavithra Rao, and Mohammed Iqbal, tackles important water quality problems that impact more than 95% of household water use for purposes other than drinking. The company sells over 40 products in various categories, such as water softeners, shower and tap filters, kitchen filters, appliance filters, and whole-house filtration systems for chlorine, hard water, and other pollutants.
Commenting on the announcement, Pavithra Rao, Co-Founder, WaterScience, said, “This funding is a strong validation of our mission to make water safer and healthier for every Indian home. With Velocity’s support, we will scale faster and innovate across new categories, ensuring that WaterScience continues to set the benchmark for water solutions in India. Having already reached 2 million homes, we are excited to add another 1 million this year.”
According to WaterScience, more than 2 million Indian homes currently use its products, and in FY25–26, the company plans to add another 1 million homes. Additionally, it asserts a robust presence across marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, Shopify, and over 1,000 physical retailers, with a 70% annual growth rate.
With more than 4,000 D2C and digital-first brands as partners, Velocity, which is supported by Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures, has disbursed more than Rs 1,100 crore in funding. In addition to capital, the company provides a full range of AI-driven shipping and logistics products, including Shipfast. Soulflower, Rynox Gears, NasherMiles, Hammer, Zlade, The Bear House, Off Duty, and Chumbak are a few of the top D2C brands that Velocity has backed.
