NSDC & Urban Clap enters into partnership to collaborate mobilization for service professionals
Hyderabad: National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and UrbanClap on Monday entered into a partnership on the occasion of World Youth skills Day to collaborate for the mobilization, training and certification of service professionals across the country.
The MoU was signed between the two organisations with UrbanClap being recognized as a key strategic partner of the Skill India mission, UrbanClap said in a release here on Tuesday.
As a part of the MOU, NSDC will support UrbanClap to become a 100 per cent Skill India certified organization under RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
UrbanClap will also create micro-entrepreneurship opportunities for candidates already certified under PMKVY 2.0 and additionally train 30,000 new partners over next one year under short term skilling and upskilling programmes.
UrbanClap currently has more than 20,000 Individual Service Professionals (ISPs) working with the platform as micro-entrepreneurs across various services such as beauty (salon), spa, cleaning, plumbing, carpentry, appliance servicing and repair, painting etc. With these 20,000 partners, UrbanClap services close to a million customers every month across 10 cities in India.
Commenting on the partnership, UrbanClap Co-founder Abhiraj Singh Bhal, said, “UrbanClap is committed to the vision of creating 1 million plus successful micro-entrepreneurs for India and contribute to the Skill India mission.
Our association with NSDC will give this mission a boost and will enhance our capabilities in on-boarding and training new service partners, Mr Abhiraj added.
Speaking on the partnership, NSDC Managing Director and CEO, Manish Kumar, said, “As our cities grow smarter, the demand for professional services will increase further. This presents a huge opportunity for skilled workforce at all levels.
Platforms like UrbanClap are a great example of e-market place which can support sustainable livelihood and our partnership with UrbanClap, will provide newer opportunities to our youth and certainly this will benefit both the candidates and industry at large, Kumar added.
NSDC, under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, is an implementing agency for several flagship programs under the Government of India — Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and among others.
It also catalyses international training and employment opportunities for Indian youth, through private sector collaboration.
UrbanClap is India and the UAE’s largest home services company, offers services such as beauty and spa at home, cleaning, plumbing, carpentry, appliance repair, painting through its mobile app and website.
