Orbitt Space raised $1 M Pre-seed funding from pi Ventures

Pi Ventures led a $1 million pre-seed round for Ahmedabad-based spacetech startup Orbitt Space, with IIMA Ventures also participating.

The money raised will be utilized to grow Orbitt’s engineering staff, improve product design, and start testing prototypes of its in-house avionics and propulsion systems.

Christopher Parmar and Anupam Kumar, former ISRO experts, founded Orbit Space in early 2025. The company is developing a high-agility satellite bus and an air-breathing electric propulsion system for Ultra Low Earth Orbit (ULEO) missions.

Although ULEO orbits (defined as those under 250 km) provide benefits like reduced radiation exposure, lower latency, and sharper imaging, they are still underutilized because of high atmospheric drag. By using leftover atmospheric gases as propellant, Orbitt’s solution allows satellites to operate sustainably for five to seven years without the need for onboard fuel.

The startup is now concentrating on the in-lab development and qualification of its propulsion system, with the commercial rollout and in-orbit validation scheduled for later stages. The 200kg-class satellite bus from the company is built to last, be agile, and be economical in extremely low-orbit conditions.
