Rs 31 Cr Pre-series A funding raised by agritech startup Kisankonnect
The fully integrated fresh produce agritech startup Kisankonnect has raised Rs 31 crore (roughly $3.75 million) in a pre-series A round led by the fund Green Frontier Capital (GFC), which focuses on climate technology.
Leading crop protection company Dhanuka Agritech Limited from India participated in the round as did VC Grid and other family offices.
With the money, the Ahmednagar-based company plans to strengthen its fresh-produce supply chain technology, expand its work with its 5,000 farmers in climate-smart agriculture interventions, and open new farm stores to complement its Mumbai and Pune locations.
Established in 2020, Kisankonnect purchases directly from farmers and uses its own D2C App and farm-stores to physically deliver to over a million customers in Mumbai and Pune. Utilizing its proprietary technology, it grows food sustainably in close collaboration with the farmer community and uses its delivery channel to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to customers.
Through its “Village Staples” and “Mom’s Kitchen” categories, the company also manufactures and markets handcrafted snacks and carefully chosen agri-produce. These are made in a clean central kitchen exclusively by women from the countryside.
In May 2023, Kisanconnect raised undisclosed funding from celebrity Shilpa Shetty in its angel round.
