SA AI research startup Yazi raised funding at $1.8 M valuation

Yazi, a South African AI research startup, raised ZAR30 million (US $1.8 million) in pre-money for its first institutional funding round.
Yazi enables businesses to conduct surveys, interviews, and research studies via WhatsApp by utilizing AI to interact with participants and evaluate their answers. Without requiring users to download new apps or access web platforms, the platform enables businesses to conduct research studies.
Old Mutual, Pick n Pay, Capitec, Ipsos, and Discovery are among the clients.
3 Capital Ventures, an early-stage venture firm founded by investment manager Allan Gray, led the undisclosed round, which will be used to finance product development and global expansion. Yazi intends to increase the number of research participants in African markets and introduce automated voice interviews via WhatsApp.
