SG Enviro obtained $6 M investment from Emerald Technology Ventures

The international climate-tech venture capital firm Emerald Technology Ventures is leading a strategic investment of S$8 million ($6.22 million) in SG Enviro (SGE), an industrial wastewater engineering firm based in Singapore, the company announced Monday.
According to a statement from SGE, this sizeable investment will help the company expand throughout Southeast Asia (SEA) and support the creation and incorporation of proprietary technologies into its wide range of solutions.
In Malaysia, Indonesia, and other important SEA markets, where demand for industrial wastewater treatment infrastructure is still rising quickly, the investment will support SGE’s strategic expansion.
The region’s growing emphasis on environmental sustainability and industrial operations’ adherence to regulations is in line with this expansion.
Since its establishment in 2018 by environmental engineer Guah Eng Hock, SG Enviro has made a name for itself as an expert in developing, integrating, and running industrial wastewater treatment systems that are especially suited to the particular environmental and regulatory needs of SEA.
More than just a monetary investment, the alliance with Emerald gives SGE access to a global network of innovative water technology businesses that are part of Emerald’s portfolio.
SG Enviro will incorporate cutting-edge technologies from the whole range of solutions, including sophisticated membrane systems, intelligent monitoring tools, AI-powered optimization platforms, and novel therapeutic chemistries.
“This investment marks a significant milestone for us. It not only validates our belief that industrial water treatment in Asia requires region-specific, practical engineering – it also gives us Emerald’s support with curated global access to leading-edge technologies to help us be more efficient in our operations and better serve our customers,
“Emerald’s network positions us to scale up and create transformational impact across SEA’s industrial landscape,” said Guah Eng Hock, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SGE.
Emerald looks forward to integrating SGE’s robust execution and operation capabilities with its global portfolio of water tech entrepreneurs, said Dr. Helge Daebel, Head of Emerald’s Water Practice and recently appointed member of SGE’s Board.
“Together, we can bring world-class solutions to SEA’s industries – where the need for water resilience has never been more urgent,” he added.
In the future, SGE hopes to emerge as the leading supplier of integrated water technology solutions in the SEA.
End-to-end solutions (from initial assessment and design through implementation, operation, and ongoing optimization); global technology access (direct pipeline to the most cutting-edge water treatment innovations); and regional expertise (deep understanding of local requirements combined with international best practices) are all advantages that the company believes its customers will enjoy.
Additionally, they benefit from scalable platforms—solutions that expand with our clients’ growing businesses—and sustainability leadership, which propels regional industries toward the circular water economy.
