Thousands of employees to be laid-off by Amazon and Salesforce
US-based software behemoths Salesforce and Amazon have both publicly said that they intend to let go of thousands of staff.
The present economic slump and previous aggressive recruiting policies were acknowledged by both corporations as two of the key causes of the layoffs.
The business will cut more than 18,000 posts overall, according to Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, in a letter to staff members.
Amazon shops and its HR division named People, Experience, and Technology are primarily responsible for the cutbacks. The e-commerce behemoth announced the first round of layoffs in November 2022, affecting 10,000 individuals, according to reports.
According to Jassy, the adjustments would enable Amazon to pursue long-term prospects with a “stronger cost structure,” and the business will be “innovative, creative, and scrappy in this period.”
Meanwhile, Salesforce intends to reduce its workforce by 10%. According to the cloud software company’s LinkedIn profile, it employs more than 73,000 workers, thus the decision might affect more than 7,000 people.
