To broaden reach, digital learning startup Rekindle acquires fellow ed-tech company EpiTek

The acquisition of fellow ed-tech startup EpiTek by South African digital learning company Rekindle Learning for an undisclosed amount will increase both businesses’ capacity for enterprise upskilling and digital learning.
While EpiTek, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) ed-tech provider with a focus on white labeling end-to-end online education platforms, was introduced in Cape Town in 2021, Rekindle Learning, which was founded in 2014, assists organizations throughout the continent in achieving quantifiable performance, productivity, and people development.
In order to address the formalized training requirements of Africa’s changing workforce, Rekindle acquired EpiTek, establishing a new learner pathway platform called Rekindle EpiTek. Facilitated live classrooms, artificial intelligence (AI)-invigilated assessments, analytics, and reporting in a single integrated system provide a solution for both accredited and non-accredited skills development providers and work-based learning programs to deliver, track, and measure learning outcomes.
“This isn’t just about merging platforms – it’s about redefining how skills development happens in Africa,” said Rekindle Learning CEO Sally Nhlanhla. “For the first time, companies can manage the entire training journey – from bite-sized, performance-driven learning to structured, in-depth programmes, and even formal certification. It’s a solution designed by Africans, for Africans.”
EpiTek CEO Matthew Scott said the deal marked an exciting evolution for his company.
“Rekindle is now uniquely positioned as a high-impact African tech company, equipped to meet the continent’s training and skills development needs at scale,” he said.
