Torus Robotics raised $470K Seed funding from TNIFMC

Under the Tamil Nadu Emerging Sector Seed Fund (TNESSF), deeptech startup Torus Robotics raised $470K in its seed round. The round was headed by Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Fund Management Corporation (TNIFMC).

Forge Innovation & Ventures, Coimbatore, and SINE (Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship), Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, also took part in the round.

The money raised will be used to fund innovation and expansion as well as to expand Torus Robotics’ R&D operations, which will guarantee a quick transfer of their technologies from the lab to the market.

Torus Robotics was established in Chennai in 2019 by Vignesh M, Vibhakar Senthil, and Abbhi Vignesh K with the goal of addressing the significant reliance on the importation of powertrain components, particularly motors and controllers, for the EV market.

According to the startup, its products are up to 15% more efficient, at least 50% lighter and more compact, and more affordable than traditional alternatives.

The startup has successfully obtained funding for applications in the industrial, energy, and electric vehicle sectors under the FLCTD program, which is facilitated by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization).
