Unilever’s VC arm, East Ventures led $6 M Series A funding secured by Esqa
With participation from East Ventures, the global consumer products giant’s venture arm, Esqa, an Indonesian cosmetics brand, has secured US $6 million in a series A fundraising round.
The agreement represents Southeast Asia’s first beauty investment by Unilever Ventures.
Esqa, a 2016 startup, calls itself the nation’s first vegan cosmetics company. The company claims that all 120 of its items are vegan and Halal-certified.
Sales of the company have been increased to Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam. Selling through the offline storefronts of Sociolla, another East Ventures-backed firm, is one of its expansion plans.
The company asserted in a statement that profitability had been attained.
After nearly ten years of study and employment in Los Angeles, Cindy Angelina and Kezia Trihatmanto founded Esqa. When they got back to Indonesia, they started the startup.
The company intends to use the additional funds for marketing, recruiting, product development, and business expansion.
