Wavemaker, Jungle Ventures led pre-Series A funding raised by Medici

In a pre-Series A investment led by Wavemaker Partners and Jungle Ventures, Medici, a one-stop healthcare and insurance platform in Vietnam, raised an undisclosed sum.

Insignia Ventures Partners, an existing investor, also contributed.

The money will be used to extend the company’s insurtech presence, develop its healthcare service, and hire for a variety of positions.

Medici, which was founded in 2019, is a digital-first, holistic healthcare ecosystem that gives the Vietnamese people inexpensive access to world-class doctors, healthcare goods, and insurance. Its ecosystem includes telemedicine services that connect users to a curated network of in-house and partner doctors, clinics, and hospitals, an online supplement marketplace powered by pharmaceutical company partnerships, and a network of leading Vietnamese companies that distribute their services to their employees.

After obtaining an insurance broker licence from the Ministry of Finance in 2021, Medici entered the insurance market. This has allowed the company to provide low-cost plans based on health data from its ecosystem, which includes millions of consumers in more than 30 Vietnamese provinces.

Vu Ba Tuyen, the former Deputy CEO of Hanwha Life and an insurance industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience, has been named Medici’s Deputy CEO in charge of the company’s insurance division.
