Food safety programme opens applications for Nigerian, Ethiopian startups

Feed the Future, the US government’s global hunger and food security project, has launched submissions for the EatSafe Innovation Challenge, which invites innovators to contribute their ideas for adapting and using current food safety advances in traditional marketplaces in Nigeria and Ethiopia.

The EatSafe programme, administered by Feed the Future in collaboration with the SUN Business Network (SBN) and the Innovative Food System Portal, is searching for food safety-minded businesses, students, researchers, and other innovators in Nigeria and Ethiopia.

Applicants will have the opportunity to compete in the Global EatSafe Innovation Challenge, which will be held in Denmark and will provide a prize of $10,000 to the winning proposal. The competition will run from April through October and will be organised as a worldwide effort with national pitching events in Nigeria and Ethiopia, as well as a global final event in Denmark.

Participants will get national and international recognition, mentoring, technical training, and networking opportunities with top industry players, investors, researchers, and academics. Each country competition will select four champions to compete in the Global EatSafe Innovation Challenge Finals.

Applications will be accepted till April 30.
