Yoga and pilates firm The Flow Studio receives investment from Bintang Capital Partners

Bintang Capital Partners Berhad (Bintang), an impact investment firm based in Malaysia, has announced that it has invested in Project Studio Sdn Bhd (The Flow), a pilates and yoga company based in Malaysia, through BCP Asia Fund I L.P.

In addition to supporting The Flow’s objective of improving community health and wellness by providing affordable, high-quality fitness, Bintang said in a statement on Friday that this historic partnership makes The Flow the first company in its portfolio to be led by a woman, demonstrating Bintang’s unwavering dedication to gender-lens investing.

Bintang’s investment opens the door for The Flow to grow throughout ASEAN markets, providing more communities with high-quality, low-impact fitness options.

By providing HRD Corp (HRDC) claimable customized programs that improve employees’ physical and mental wellness, the company also intends to grow its corporate clientele.

Its commitment to inclusivity and lifelong wellness is further demonstrated by its plans to broaden its offerings to include targeted populations that can benefit from low-impact training, such as young children who can acquire foundational strength and flexibility from yoga and pilates, and the elderly, for whom these forms of exercise can enhance joint mobility and balance.

“Gender lens investment opportunities have been something that the Bintang team and I have actively sought out since we launched our maiden fund BCP Asia Fund I back in 2022,

“The team and I are both delighted and honored that we have been given the opportunity by The Flow to work with them as they build a uniquely positioned wellness business which is already present in two geographies across ASEAN,” said Johan Rozali-Wathooth, Bintang Capital Partners’ Founder and Chief Executive Officer.

Since both younger and older members of society are looking for alternatives to the conventional fitness and wellness services that the market offers, he pointed out that Bintang’s investment thesis is based on the notion that approaches to wellness and fitness are evolving in tandem with population demographics.

With seven cutting-edge locations in Malaysia and three in Singapore, The Flow provides reformer pilates and yoga.

It employs stringent quality control procedures to guarantee that each instructor is globally certified, extensively trained, and able to manage a broad range of body types, fitness levels, and injuries, in contrast to the majority of other studios in the area.

It offers carefully crafted beginner to advanced classes in both group and private settings, accommodating all fitness levels and letting participants advance at their own speed.

In addition, the studio provides customized classes for people recovering from injuries and prenatal and postnatal sessions that help women engage in low-impact, safe exercises.

With 40 enthusiastic, mostly female teachers, the company offers year-round classes and internationally recognized certifications for yoga and pilates instructors.

Its impact is further enhanced by its globally recognized certification programs, which help mothers reenter the workforce and upskill while also empowering the next generation of fitness professionals.

Tiffany Yow and Lachlan McComiskie, the company’s co-founders, have made The Flow a household name since its founding in 2018.
