Flexi talent provider TROOPERS acquired by BetterPlace for undisclosed amount

For an undisclosed sum, flexi talent solutions provider TROOPERS from Malaysia has been acquired by blue-collar workforce management company BetterPlace.

According to a statement from the company, BetterPlace’s acquisition of TROOPERS will strengthen its position in Southeast Asia and enable it to expand its presence in the area. Through the acquisition, TROOPERS’ automated gig matching and rostering capabilities will be integrated into BetterPlace’s comprehensive SaaS platform.

Businesses can scale up their gig workforce in response to operational demands thanks to TROOPERS’ on-demand, pre-screened, part-time frontline workers. The business claims that since its inception, it has assisted over 50,000 gig workers in Malaysia in finding gig opportunities.

Agarwala and Uday Singh founded BetterPlace in 2015, which provides a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform. The platform offers hiring, background checking, and digital onboarding services to assist its clients in managing the entire lifecycle of their blue-collar workforce. Additionally, the platform offers services for compliance, payroll, and attendance management.

BetterPlace asserts that in FY22, its revenue increased five times, to Rs 275 crore. Additionally, the company hopes to increase its revenue by three times in FY23.

Following BetterPlace’s recent growth in the area, TROOPERS was acquired. BetterPlace made its first foray into Southeast Asia in February 2023 when it acquired MyRobin, the industry-leading blue-collar workforce fulfillment platform in Indonesia. Additionally, the company acquired $40 million as part of a Series C+ fundraise from new and existing investors in December of last year, including Jungle Ventures and British International Investment.
