INFUSE 2024 launched by Gavi, Seedstars to foster climate-resilient health systems
INFUSE 2024, a global call for applications for innovations to strengthen health systems against climate threats and enhance immunization delivery, has been launched by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, in collaboration with Seedstars.
The goal of the Swiss startup Seedstars is to use technology and entrepreneurship to improve people’s lives in developing nations, while Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is a public-private alliance that assists in immunizing over half of the world’s children against some of the deadliest diseases.
The Gavi-led project INFUSE, which stands for “Innovation for Uptake, Scale, and Equity in Immunization,” aims to connect high-impact, tried-and-true innovations to the countries that most need them in order to scale up innovative global health solutions.
In addition to improving frontline healthcare workers’ ability to manage health threats related to climate change and ensure effective vaccine distribution under difficult climate conditions, the program aims to identify and scale innovations that support resilient, low-carbon healthcare systems.
“The climate crisis has significant implications for vaccine preventable diseases and immunisation programmes. INFUSE is a great platform to mobilise the latest innovations in support of the health community to drive adaptive and mitigative actions against climate change,” said Augustin Flory, managing director for innovative partnerships and development finance at Gavi.
The partnership with Gavi for INFUSE 2024, according to Sheilla Atieno, Seedstars program manager for Africa, is essential in the fight against the negative effects of climate change on human health.
“We are calling on innovators globally to come forward with solutions that can make a tangible difference in building climate-resilient health systems,” she said.
