The MPL (Mobile Premier League) has established Mayhem Studios, a mobile game development studio, with an undisclosed investment from Lumikai. Investors such as Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia India), Steadview Capital, Moore Strategic, Hashed Emergent, Base Partners, and Truecaller support the platform.
In April of last year, Mayhem Studios had previously raised $20 million in a Series A round that was co-led by its current investors.
The funds will be used to expand the team of developers, speed up game development, scale operations, and improve technological capabilities. According to a press release from Mayhem Studios.
Mayhem Studios, a gaming platform founded by Ojas Vipat in 2022, is presently working on its main project, AAA battle royale game Underworld Gang Wars (UGW). Indian culture and aesthetics are incorporated into UGW’s gameplay. The game offers players a new and immersive experience with its iconic Indian locations, unique characters, and culturally relevant elements.
The Bengaluru-based company states that it has 7.5 million registrations on its platform and that it completed the game’s closed beta in May of this year. It is currently preparing for an open beta. Some noteworthy startups in this field include Playmotion, Moon Frog, Zynga, Ubisoft, and Playsimple.
Invested in interactive media and gaming, Lumikai has supported a number of well-known companies, including Bombay Play, Elo Elo, All Star Games, Supernova, Autovrse, and Vobble.
