Nangalbibra acquired by Sterlite Power
Sterlite Power Transmission Limited, a renowned private sector power transmission infrastructure developer, said on Tuesday that it has acquired PFC Consulting Limited’s Nangalbibra Bongaigaon Transmission Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
The corporation will use this SPV to complete the interstate transmission system (ISTS) project, which it won in October 2021 through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB).
The project entails the construction of a 300 km transmission line network and a greenfield substation with a 320 MVA transformation capacity across Assam and Meghalaya’s northern topography.
The project consists of a 250 ckt km 400kV D/c transmission line connecting Bongaigaon in Assam to a greenfield substation at Nangalbibra in Meghalaya, a 220/132 kV substation at Nangalbibra in Meghalaya, and a 50 ckt km 132kV D/c line connecting Hatsinghmari in Assam to Ampati in Meghalaya across the Brahmaputra.
Over 1000 MW of power would be sent from Assam to western Meghalaya as part of the project. The project will assist decongest downstream networks in the region, enhancing the quality and reliability of electricity flow in North-East India.
