OpenAI to see $10 B investment from Microsoft

Over the coming few years, Microsoft intends to invest “billions” in OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT.

Bloomberg reported that the software giant founded by Bill Gates is investing US $10 billion in OpenAI, although Microsoft withheld the investment amount. According to earlier rumours, Microsoft would own a 49% share in the company.

Microsoft will be able to “independently market” OpenAI’s solutions thanks to the agreement, which places the company’s estimated value at US $29 billion.

The Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, which enables developers to construct projects utilising OpenAI’s models, will be one method of implementation.

The company will serve as OpenAI’s exclusive cloud provider while investing money toward the company’s expedited development and deployment of supercomputing equipment.

In 2019, Microsoft has already invested $1 billion in OpenAI. The creator of ChatGPT was then given an unknown sum of money by the tech behemoth in 2021.

In 2015, a group of researchers and businessmen, including former Y Combinator director Sam Altman, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and eminent researcher Ilya Sutskever, launched OpenAI.
