Volt Money acquired by DSP Finance to strengthen digital lending platform

Salter Technologies, the company behind the digital lending platform Volt Money, has been purchased by DSP Finance, the NBFC division of DSP Group. Loans against financial assets, such as Loans Against Mutual Funds (LAMF), are offered via the platform.

Through the transaction, the two companies in the secured lending industry are combined. Volt Money contributes its digital lending platform and distribution network, while DSP Finance contributes its balance sheet, risk management skills, and institutional infrastructure.

Customers can borrow against their mutual fund holdings using Volt Money, and the money will be disbursed in five minutes, subject to the necessary procedures and permissions. Through the purchase, DSP Finance will be able to service clients throughout the mutual fund and wealth management ecosystem and increase the range of digital loans it offers against financial assets.

Since obtaining its NBFC registration in July 2024, DSP Finance claimed to have established a footprint in digital lending. Over 1.8 lakh retail clients have been added to the company’s loan book, which now stands at over Rs 4,000 crore.

Investors can receive liquidity against their mutual fund holdings through LAMF without having to redeem their investments. This allows investors to continue investing in their long-term assets while meeting short-term cash needs. Loans secured by mutual funds and other financial assets are becoming a popular alternative source of credit since they make up an increasing portion of family wealth in India.

Customers can borrow against their mutual fund assets through Volt Money, which was founded in 2022 by Ankit Agarwal, Bharat Lamba, and Lalit Bihani. The company’s primary goal is to make credit against financial assets digitally accessible.
