In next 5 years, MSME department in Uttar Pradesh plans to double exports to Rs 3 Cr

In the next 100 days, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to lay the foundation stones for three flatted industry complexes in Agra, Kanpur, and Gorakhpur, as well as a micro industrial region in Aligarh and convenience centres in Sant Kabirdas Nagar and Chandauli. In addition, the MSME Department plans to begin infrastructure enhancement projects in Farrukhabad and Talkatora (Lucknow), as well as raise the cost of the Mukhyamatri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 1 crore. According to officials, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Department of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Export Promotion to meet its ambitious targets in a timely manner in order to boost investments and production, create massive jobs for the youth, and boost exports.

The CM’s instruction comes after the department presented its goals for the next 100 days, six months, two years, and five years to the Yogi 2.0 Cabinet. Through a variety of programmes, the MSME & Export Promotion Department hopes to expand MSME exports to Rs 2 lakh crore in the next couple of years and Rs 3 lakh crore in five years. Six MSME parks are being established across the state, a major leather cluster is being established in Kanpur, and credit to the MSME sector is being increased to Rs 5 lakh crore in collaboration with banks, paving the way for the development of 5 crore employment.

Importantly, Uttar Pradesh’s export value has increased by 41% in the previous five years, from Rs 88,967 crore in 2017-18 to Rs 125,903.76 crore in 2021-22 (until January 2022), with Rs 150,000 crore predicted by the end of the year. Meanwhile, the department plans to distribute tool kits and provide loans to 5 lakh and 1.5 lakh craftsmen, respectively, over the next five years via the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana and the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. In addition, the department has set a lofty goal of generating Rs 8 lakh crore in investments and doubling ODOP product sales in the next five years.
