300 staff laid off by Byju’s-owned edtech firm Toppr
Entrackr revealed, citing persons familiar with the situation, that India-based edtech firm Toppr has laid off more than 300 workers, adding to the huge job layoffs that have occurred in the local sector recently.
According to three of the individuals, the business, which was bought by edtech giant Byju’s last year, is laying off over 300 staff right away and may fire up to 500 more.
Toppr job layoffs come after those at WhiteHat Jr., another educational technology platform owned by Byju’s. The firm has laid off 300 full-time employees, primarily from its sales and code-teaching divisions.
FrontRow and Udayy are two more Indian-based edtech companies that have been sending pink slips, with the latter ceasing operations.
Toppr is an online learning platform that offers teaching and study materials for admission examinations. The after-school learning platform was purchased by Byju’s in July of last year for US $150 million.
