Third edition of NINJA Accelerator selected five Kenyan clean-tech startups
The third iteration of the NINJA Accelerator will give five Kenyan clean-tech startups specialized support to establish their companies as well as access to international mentoring, networking, and fundraising opportunities, including a roadshow to Japan.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) launched Project NINJA as a program to continuously and independently develop and support startups. Double Feather Partners, Deloitte, GrowthAfrica, and the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) are partners in the implementation of the NINJA Accelerator.
Five post-revenue Kenyan clean-tech startups have been chosen to participate in a 12-week program after being included in the previous two iterations. This program gives founders the tools they need to become more prepared for partnerships and investments, allowing them to grow their companies and scale successfully in the Kenyan market.
They are Baridi, which offers lease-to-own solar-enhanced cold storage, Mazi Mobility, MegaGas, a company that makes clean cooking gas, Ycenter Shambah Solutions, and Timao Group, a company that recycles waste.
“We are thrilled to launch this third cohort as another testament to our commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship in Kenya, against the backdrop of the 60th anniversary of Kenya-Japan diplomatic relations, and in support of the vision set forth by Kenya National Innovation Agency,” said Hajime Iwama, chief representative from JICA Kenya.
