To support Nigerian SMBs, Google now accepting applications for its $100K Hustle Academy Fund

Applications are now open for Google’s Hustle Academy SMB Fund, an NGN75 million (US $100,000) equity-free fund created to support the aspirations of Nigerian SMBs.

Inaugurated in 2022, Google’s Hustle Academy offers SMEs networking opportunities, mentoring, and education in business and management, with a focus on preparing them to package their companies in order to raise the funding they need to advance their operations.

Over 4,000 SMBs in Nigeria have graduated from the program since its inception, with an impressive 74% of those from the first year reporting significant business growth. In the meantime, the fund is providing 15 small business owners in Nigeria with NGN5 million (US $6,500).

“The Hustle Academy Fund is a testament to the resilience and innovation of Nigerian small businesses, which are the backbone of our economy. We are hopeful that this fund will further empower them to succeed and drive economic growth, creating jobs and opportunities for all Nigerians,” said Mojolaoluwa Aderemi-Makinde, head of brand and reputation at Sub-Saharan Africa at Google.

To be eligible for the Hustle Academy SMB Fund, businesses must be Nigerian-founded, operating within Nigeria for five years or less, and have a clear and scalable business plan. They should have a track record of commitment to growth, operate in sectors aligned with the digital economy or have a digital enablement strategy, and, while not mandatory, previous participation in the Hustle Academy program is an added advantage.

Applications are open till October 12.
