Kemtech Valley-BTU studio launched by PTS Holdings, BTU to back Egyptian entrepreneurs

Following the directives of the Egyptian government to encourage and welcome creative ideas from university students, PTS Investments Holdings Inc. and Borg El Arab Technological University have established a strategic alliance.

Launching an extensive digital platform with a variety of services for graduates and students studying technical and technology education is the main objective of this partnership. In addition, the agreement calls for the establishment of the first startup company via the “Kemtech Valley-BTU” specialized entrepreneurship studio. This program leverages the knowledge of the university’s faculty and student body to support and promote research results and graduation projects. The ultimate objective is to turn these priceless resources into profitable business endeavors, useful fixes, and industrial goods that can be successfully sold.

As a component of the Egyptian Applied Technology Valley, or “Kemtech Valley,” this collaboration is overseen by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s Supreme Council for Technological Education. To launch a digital platform, PTS Investments Holdings Inc. has partnered with Venture Kemtix and COREangels MEA. The project has secured substantial funding totaling six figures, highlighting its vital role in startups and entrepreneurship as well as its commitment to fostering innovation and helping budding entrepreneurs in Egypt.

The goal of the first-of-its-kind digital platform, which technical universities have launched, is to provide a wide range of services related to development, training, employment, and support for innovation and startups. These services are available to both current and past participants in technical technology education programs in Egypt and other countries. The primary objective of the platform is to create a framework that enables cooperation in applied technology education between public and private educational institutions. This can be accomplished by means of a centralised digital gateway. As a point of connection, this gateway connects graduates and students from technology education institutions to a range of domestic and international job markets.

It offers comprehensive details on employment prospects across the globe, along with particular competencies and prerequisites for every position. Consequently, graduates can benefit from training and certification programs that provide them with the skills required for the workforce.

During this event, PTS Holdings’ group managing director, Eng. Maha Mandour, emphasized that this collaboration represents a critical turning point in the development of Egypt’s labor and educational sectors. It illustrates how educational establishments and investment businesses contribute positively to the advancement of society and the cultivation of Egyptian youth’s extraordinary talents in the areas of training and employment. This is achieved by giving technology university valedictorians free scholarships to participate in the entrepreneurship fellowship program.

She added: “The students will be trained and mentored by industry and entrepreneurship experts, with the assistance of university professors, to develop initial models for innovative project ideas. By the end of the first phase, students will present their ideas to a specialised committee of experts and industry professionals. Some projects will be selected for sponsorship and support from the specialised entrepreneurship studio Kemtech Valley. She highlighted that the initiative has awarded scholarships to over 1,000 students from different technology universities over a span of three years and has incubated five innovative projects through the entrepreneurship studios with the aim of transforming them into start-ups with the sponsorship of the private sector”.
