OceanHub Africa accelerator’s fourth edition open for application submission

The fourth iteration of the eight-month OceanHub Africa accelerator is now accepting applications. This program will support up to 12 of Africa’s most promising impact-driven for-profit startups that are dedicated to protecting and restoring the health of the ocean.

The OceanHub Africa accelerator, which chose its third cohort in October, is on a mission to assist ocean-focused startups with the specific goal of fostering an economically successful and environmentally conscious society that successfully lessens the effects of both global warming and the overfishing and pollution of the oceans.

It will deliver to the accelerated startups an online program that looks for sustainable pathways yielding stable profits (ROIs) and avenues for scalable growth across Africa by leveraging its highly qualified network of stakeholders and facilitators.

In addition to receiving up to US $75,000 in cloud computing services from AWS Activate and more than US $40,000 in mechanical engineering design software licenses for prototyping and virtual testing through partner 3DExperience Lab, selected companies will also gain access to a network of top ocean experts, mentors, impact investors, and potential clients.

They will take part in a hands-on training bootcamp, receive individualized business coaching and support for personal growth, and attend conferences and networking events, including a booth and stage at the Ocean Innovation Africa annual summit.

Additionally, there may be funding available up to US $10,000, assistance with structuring deals, and preparing and conducting investor pitches.

As a part of its ecosystems, OceanHub provides access to a sizable portfolio of impact investors.

Startups submitting applications must have an ocean-minded business model, be for-profit, and offer a scalable service or good that is currently or soon will be on the market. The application period is open until May 14; the eight-month program will start in July.
