Robotics firm Clearbot secured undisclosed Seed funding

To improve its self-driving ships, Hong Kong-based robotics firm Clearbot has secured an undisclosed seed sum.

CarbonX Global joined the round, which was anchored by Alibaba’s Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund (AEF).

By using robot-as-a-service, Clearbot, a company founded by University of Hong Kong students, automates a range of marine activities like garbage collection, water quality monitoring, and cargo movement.

The money will go toward product research to increase the robots’ operating effectiveness in various environments, such as extremely hot climates or crowded seaports. Additionally, they are investing in research to transform client data into insights for ESG (environmental, social, and governance) compliance.

Sidhant Gupta, a co-founder of Clearbot, stated the company intends to become the world’s largest fleet of electric ships over the next ten years. According to him, the firm hopes to have the same influence on the maritime services sector that electric vehicles did on the auto sector.

The company’s main commercially available model, the Clearbot Neo, was created in collaboration with Razer last June. Seven robots are being used by Clearbot to spread its reach in places including Panama, India, and Hong Kong.
