SA land management startup Vastpoint raised Strategic funding

In order to expand its efforts to change land use, ownership, and management in some of the most vulnerable areas of the world, South African startup Vastpoint has obtained strategic funding from impact investor Vital Capital.
Based in Johannesburg, Vastpoint is a land management and geospatial solutions company that increases property tax collection while assisting communities and governments in Africa, Asia, and Latin America in developing more open, inclusive, and efficient land systems.
More than three million people have been impacted and more than 800,000 land titles have been granted thus far. Following its acquisition of funds from Vital Capital, which employs a “build and re-build” approach to address basic human needs, it is now poised to expand.
The partnership will help Vastpoint expand into important markets where social inclusion, environmental resilience, and economic development are still hampered by ambiguous land tenure.
“From advancing food security and poverty reduction to enabling sustainable urbanization and climate resilience, secure land tenure underpins a wide range of global development goals,” said Tamar Pashtan, Vital’s head of impact. “With most of the world’s population lacking secure land and property rights, Vastpoint is tackling one of the most fundamental – and overlooked – development challenges of our time.”
