Goa-based startup ranked among the world’s top five waste management startups
Panjim: Goa-based Flycatcher Technologies, has been ranked among the world’s five top waste management startups, which are making a difference in today’s smart cities, by a global start-up scouting outfit StartUs Insights.
Based in Goa and Gujarat, Flycatcher Technologies’ waste management tech could well be the answer to some of the challenges posed to the hospitality and other sectors — which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic — vis a vis maximisation of existing resources in order to cut down on operational costs.
The cutting-edge engineering technology adopted by Flycatcher Technologies has been in action in several waste management projects in Goa and Maharashtra over the last few year, before it caught the eye of StartUs Insights.
Speaking exclusively to UNI, Richard Dias, Founder, Flycatcher Technologies LLP, said Flycatcher Technologies provides an end-to-end solution to waste management, by using its patented, highly advanced bio-digesters.
The Swachh Bharat award winning bio-digesters feed off wet-waste to generate both biogas as well as natural fertiliser. The unique aspects of the technology is that it is easy-to-use, requires minimal manual intervention, generates energy and there is no residue left behind after the treatment. The material which is used to build Flycatcher Technologies’ digesters itself is recyclable too.
He said it’s nice to be recognised by an independent agency such as the global start-up scouting outfit StartUs Insights and be picked to stand alongside the world’s top waste management start-ups, which are making a difference in today’s smart cities. The recognition draws focus to this advanced technology which is available right here in India the development of which has been supported by The Department of Biotechnology, GoI (BIRAC) through its panel of experts.
“Our systems have a unique IoT enabled microprocessor-controlled waste management system with an Integrated feed station for homes, companies and city neighborhoods, that convert the trash into renewable energy in the form of biogas and organic fertilizers. The IoT system enables online monitoring for optimal performance of a large number of decentralized systems that contribute towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” they said.
“The two Disgestors offered by flycatcher. First one is ‘The Rhino Digestor’, which is a system automated microprocessor-controlled system, it is equipped with an Integrated crusher and can be installed on a terrace or within a compound. This Digester can treat waste from 20 kgs up to 5000 kgs from the kitchen’s waste per day to generate Biogas and fertilizer. The second Model of the Digester ‘Amazing Dedko Digester’ can treat 2kg waste per day and the biogas it generates can save up to 30 percent in LPG costs,” he added.
